About the Georgia Brittany Club

National specialty clubs (also called parent clubs) represent fanciers of a single breed. The AKC approves only one national club for each breed and for Brittany's this is the American Brittany Club (ABC).
The Objective and purpose of the ABC is to promote cooperation and friendship among the breedes and owners of Brittanys and to encourage higher standards in breeding, training in the field and the show ring; to discourage the breed from becoming split into groups of "field dogs" and "show dogs" and to strive to keep it forever a "dual dog".

The ABC is also a recognized breed sponsor by the American Field, the oldest pointing dog breed registry in the U.S.. The ABC primrily holds dog shows, spcialty shows, and field trial championships.
The Georgia Brittany Club (GBC) is one of many regional Brittany clubs operating under the rules and regulations of the ABC. The GBC operates under an approved constitution with bylaws approved by the ABC and thus the AKC. The officers of the club are listed on this website. The GBC was formed by a diverse group of dog lovers who share the common interest of raising, training, breeding and competing with Brittanys. There are currently about 35 members in the club.
In the GBC's history we have held both performance and conformation events. Our regular events include a fall and a spring field trial which take place over several days and consists of a number of different stakes. These field trial events draw as many as 100 entries. Our web site acts as the primary means of distributing club news, events, and general information. Field trial premiums are also mailed out to those who request such.
Membership in the Georgia Brittany Club carries and automatic membership in the American Brittany Club. Cost is $30.00 for 1 year, $60.00 for 2 years and $90.00 for 3 years at the time of this writing. The easiest method of becoming a member is to visit the American Brittany Club Website.  Membership includes the monthly magazine of the American Brittany Club which includes news, event announcements and results, and articles.
